This is what God is like: special and unique!

We give thanks to God for this year which is nearly over. For His companionship, sustenance, protection and patience.
Companionship, because we could sense that His presence was among us each day.
Susenance, because we had His hand to direct us when our strength was flagging by the accelerated pace of life we were living.
Protection, because nothing escaped His will and in all things we were looked after.
Patience, because as a loving Father, He loved us even with all our faults and mistakes.
Yes! That's what our God is like! So special and unique!

We give thanks for the satisfaction of having accomplished many of our dreams, plans and projects, which without our friends of Certeza, would have been impossible.

The Lord has been present in all of this. We have learned much and we want to keep learning under God.

Post-Littworld tour of Sao Paulo

Some of the 20 or so Littworld participants who enjoyed a tour of Sao Paulo after the conference. Highlights of the tour included ... a visit to the Bible Society's Bible Museum, where we watched a life-sized replica of Guttenberg's press print out Psalm 23 ... a tour of the Bible Society's Bible printing operation, which employs 230+ people and prints Scriptures 24 hours a day ... deciphering the Portuguese captions on the exhibits at the Portuguese Language Museum ... drinking coffee beside the last surviving wall of the original Sao Paulo settlement, now encased in glass ... praying and worshiping together in nine different languages in our hotel ... and the best highlight of all -- spending time with one another!

Se entregaron los premios LittWorld 2006 a tres escritores principiantes por sus ensayos acerca de una persona que impactó sus vidas por la fe.

Los galardones fueron tres primeros premios otorgados uno en inglés, uno en español y uno en portugués. Los ganadores fueron: Daniel Dabaniski de Bulgaria, Emma de Nieto de Colombia y Renata Tomaz de Brasil.

Encontro Asec X Letra Viva

Começou nesta tarde de domingo o primeiro Encontro Asec e Letra Viva, uma parceria inédita que juntou as duas maiores entidades representativas do livro cristão na América Latina: Asec e Letra Viva.
Whaner Endo, diretor-executivo da Asec, apresentou aos editores de fala espanhola os principais papéis desenvolvidos pela organização no território brasileiro, envolvendo reuniões periódicas, encontros de capacitação (Café Editorial), ações nas bienais do Livro em São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro. Ian Darke, diretor da Letra Viva, contou das dificuldades de juntar os editores de fala espanhola em um único local, principalmente devido às questões geográficas.
Ambos ressaltaram a dificuldade de lançar livros de autores nacionais e a preocupação das entidades em produzir livros de autores nacionais.
Em seguida, Paulo, da Sociedade Bíblica do Brasil (SBB), falou sobre os desafios da obra bíblica no País. Em 2006, a SBB completou 60 anos de vida e distribuiu cerca de 4 milhões de exemplares da tradicional bíblia de capa preta, em um ano de trabalho. Segundo Paulo, há pelo menos três desafios sobre os quais a SBB tem planejado seu trabalho nos últimos anos: levar a Palavra de Deus a novas audiências/públicos cada vez mais segmentados; atender às novas igrejas que estão surgindo, em sua maioria independente; oferecer a Palavra de Deus em novas mídias e criar nova mentalidade de trabalho.
Ricardo Crespo liderou o encontro e dirigiu a divisão dos presentes em pequenos grupos temáticos, onde cada um pode compartilhar as suas experiências.
Outro momento importante foi a participação do prof. dr. José Castilho Neto, secretário-executivo do PNLL - Plano Nacional do Livro e Leitura do Governo Federal Brasileiro, que trouxe uma saudação dos Ministros da Cultura e da Educação e afirmou que o livro cristão é importante para que os objetivos de uma nação de leitores e, consequentemente cidadãos, seja atingida.
O primeiro Encontro Asec e Letra Viva acontece nos dias que antecederam a Littworld, Congresso Internacional de Literatura Cristã, em São Paulo, Brasil.

Comenzó la Consulta de Letra Viva

Desde el viernes 10 hasta el domingo 12 de noviembre, Letra Viva tendrá su décima Consulta continental. El viernes en la noche comenzó con una reunión de bienvenida, donde el teólogo René Padilla quien compartió acerca de su recorrido con el mundo editorial desde el año 1958 en adelante.
El sábado en la mañana inició la primer plenaria donde se habló del concepto de red y un recorrido de lo que ha pasado en la red en estos 10 años de existencia de la red.
«Letra Viva existe no por si mismo sino por cada miembro que conforma esta red. Existe para dar ayuda mutua a las editoriales» dijo Ian Darke, Coordinador de Letra Viva.
La muestra del trabajo en red puede ser a través de la publicación de libros en co-edición y la revista de nuestra red, o la presentación conjunta por país en una feria del libro, con es el caso de Perú.
«La idea es pensar acerca de que podemos hacer juntos en nuestros países de origen, en cada editorial. Que cada grupo pueda llevarse herramientas útiles» se afirmó.

Las editoriales representadas por países dieron informes sobre las actividades que han realizado conjuntamente. Gracias a Letra Viva se contactaron con editoriales que pueden aportar consultorías y ayudas en general que hacen al crecimiento de las editoriales en el país.
